Online traceroute: packet route hop by hop | TwojeIP.net
See which networks your packets cross on the way to a host. Live online traceroute with the operator and country of every hop.
How to read a traceroute?
Traceroute lists the successive routers (hops) your packets pass on the way to the target, with the latency to each one. It helps find where a connection slows down or breaks.
For every hop we show the country and the network operator, and we hide private network addresses. Asterisks (* * *) mean no reply: a router may simply not answer such probes.
Is a hop with asterisks an outage?
Not necessarily. Many routers do not answer traceroute probes while traffic still passes through. A problem is visible only when all following hops stay silent too.
Why is the latency in the middle higher than at the end?
Routers answer probes at low priority, so their replies can be slow even though they forward traffic fast. What matters is the latency to the last hop.
Why does the route not reach the target?
The target or a firewall in front of it may block the probes. The last hops then show only asterisks, but the site can work normally.
